Dutch Wickes

“When people think of architecture, they typically focus only on the visual aspects of the building,” Dutch Wickes notes. “They don’t necessary think about the interworkings of the building. How does it stay cool? How does it stay running 24/7? I knew when I entered architectural school that I didn’t have the artistic flair of a designer. But I had a clear desire to build things. I focused my full attention on the pragmatics of making the design work. My purpose was — and still is — to make the building functional, structurally and technically sound, and environmentally efficient.”
